Inherited retinal diseases (IRDs), including X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP) and achromatopsia (ACHM), are a group of eye diseases that can cause severe vision loss and even blindness. The signs and symptoms of these diseases can appear at any point in one’s life and may continue to (and likely will) progress over time. Researchers are working toward learning more about IRDs so they can help to find potential new treatment options for the future.
